Yamaha studio manager crashing11/19/2022 ![]() ![]() The depth of the pad makes it rather substantial, and the velcro/spike grips means that it’s lifting our carpet before it moves anywhere. Meanwhile, the bass drum pad gives a feel of its own. The tom pads share the same TCS surface, however while the uniform sizes from the rack tom to the floor tom make it possible to get everything positioned into a fairly compact arrangement, we do find ourselves wishing that the snare and floor tom were a bit bigger. The bass drum pad is extremely comfortable to play and gives you real confidence in your bass drum strikes. However we would say that the vibrations are more noticeable than we’ve experienced with mesh pads, and there is a slightly louder acoustic thud to them too. The white surface is matte, with a textured finish (hence the name) that’s spongier and more forgiving than the harder rubber pads that come with more affordable kits. The easiest way to describe TCS is somewhere in-between. If you’ve never played Yamaha’s TCS surfaces before, you’ll be wondering how they stack-up compared to mesh or solid rubber pads. So, we’ll park it and move on by saying that you won’t have any problems with pads shifting around while you play. While the rack is one of the most important features of any electronic kit, it’s also the least interesting. It’s lightweight yet sturdy, with the pads attaching to their collars via Yamaha’s hex-rod mounts and a thumbscrew on the bottom of each pad. Experienced drummers will know that Yamaha has a strong reputation in the hardware department, and the RS6 rack that comes with the kit follows this tradition. This is the flagship of the series, and as such gives you the same spec as the mid-level DTX6K2-X, with an upgrade in the form of Yamaha’s TCS (Textured Cellular Silicone) pads across the three toms and snare drum. Finally, there’s our review model: the DTX6K3-X. Next up is the DTX6K2-X, which gets you a cymbal pad upgrade to 3x 13” PCY135 cymbal pads, replaces the KP65 with the posher KP90 bass drum pad and throws-in a traditional stand-mounted hi-hat pad. Starting with the most affordable DTX6K-X, which comes equipped with rubber TP70 tom pads, rubber KP65 bass drum pad, 10” crash and ride cymbals plus a 10” hi-hat pad and foot controller. The line is offered in three configurations, all centred around the same DTX Pro sound module. Naturally, we’re hopeful this approach has extended to its Yamaha’s DTX6 series kits. ![]() Jane eyre movie streaming11/15/2022 ![]() ![]() Read Time Out’s original review of ‘Jane Eyre’. It’s available for one week (you must start watching before 4pm BST on Thu Apr 16). ‘Jane Eyre’ streams on YouTube from 7pm BST tonight. And don’t worry about that strange sound coming from upstairs: it’s probably nothing. ![]() ![]() So if you’re after a few chills to kick off the long weekend, ‘Jane Eyre’ is a good place to start. It was revived with a new cast in 2017, and that’s what’s streaming tonight. The play bagged critical plaudits at the time for its innovative staging and use of music, as well as a stand-out performance from Madeleine Worrall as Jane, the governess whose new dream job turns out to be a bit of a nightmare. Sally Cookson’s adaptation of the novel debuted to huge critical acclaim at the Bristol Old Vic back in 2014, and transferred to the National Theatre a year later. Now the National Theatre is streaming its 2017 production of ‘Jane Eyre’ as the next instalment of its NT at Home strand. A stonking gothic potboiler, it features everything you want from a chunky Victorian novel: a relatable heroine, a big, rambling, creepy, remote country house, plenty of mist and howling winds, plus – and this is its real stroke of genius – something locked away in the attic. “A Look Inside Jane Eyre” is a promotion piece that, at under four minutes, is little more than a glorified trailer. If ever there was a lockdown classic, Charlotte Brontë’s ‘Jane Eyre’ has got a pretty strong claim to be it. Neither do more than scratch the surface. “To Score Jane Eyre: Cary Fukunaga and Dario Marianelli Team Up” offers a mere two minutes of comments by Fukunaga on the score with a few illustrations from the film, and “The Mysterious Light of Jane Eyre” is another two minutes on the quality of light in the film. The rest of the supplements are too brief to be instructive or revelatory. Fukunaga briefly refers to some of the trimmed scenes in the commentary. It always comes down to telling the story with the resources at hand.Īlso includes about 17 minutes of deleted scenes, many of them fairly substantial but trimmed out in streamlining the film. And it’s always instructive to learn when choices were made for reasons of budget and/or schedule and why it’s not always a compromise so much as a reality of practical filmmaking. Listening to him describe the sound of the corset while Jane hikes down a path in the woods doesn’t feel like obsession but a desire to really communicate the texture of life in the era. The Blu-ray and DVD features a comprehensive solo commentary track by director Cary Fukunaga that basically walks the viewer through major decisions in the filmmaking process, from choices in adapting the novel and structuring the story to locations, costuming and lighting to the portrayals of the characters and the dynamics of the direction. Availability may vary by service.ĭon’t miss a single recommendation. Well cast, beautifully produced, and terribly engaging, it is a terrific British literary adaptation.Īlso on DVD and Blu-ray and on SVOD through Amazon Video, iTunes, GooglePlay and/or other services. And for all of Jane’s careful social front, never letting her true feelings show through, she is forthright and true and unfailingly honest. It is gorgeous but never what you would call pretty. Shot on wind-scoured landscape of the chilly highlands of Northern Britain, this new incarnation embraces the gothic gloom and lonely isolation of the novel but, like its stoic, strong heroine, never gives in to the darkness. The dark shadows over his spirit and the gruff edges under the moneyed manners makes him all the more seductive, which of course puts Jane on her guard even as it slowly seeps through her defenses. Michael Fassbender makes the most of Rochester’s grandly cinematic entrance, charging into the film and into Jane’s life with all the power of an untamed animal. The otherwise beautiful and buoyant Mia Wasikowska is amazing as the plain Jane who glows with the fire of intelligence and a sense of self-worth that the most soul-crushing abuse can’t smother. This adaptation of the Charlotte Bronte novel comes from American director Cary Fukunaga and British screenwriter Moira Buffini, both interestingly making their respective second features in an American/British co-production. Reed, and sent to be raised in a harsh charity. ![]() Jane Eyre is an orphan cast out as a young girl by her aunt, Mrs. Jane Eyre (2011), starring Mia Wasikowska as the fiercely self-possessed governess Jane and Michael Fassbender as the darkly attractive and grimly tormented Edward Rochester, is the best kind of reminder why the classics remain alive after centuries and can be effectively remade every generation or so. Guitar hero 3 dlc song order11/14/2022 ![]() ![]() While there are songs like "The Devil Went Down to Georgia" and "Jordan" which are extremely difficult, "Through the Fire and Flames" is also a blast to listen to. Why you ask? Because this insane speed metal anthem is the hardest, coolest and most rewarding song that the series has to offer. Had this feature been a countdown of the Top 25 Guitar Hero tracks, rest assured that "Through the Fire and Flames" would have rested soundly at the number 1 spot. With no exaggeration, this is the best song on any current or future Guitar Hero game. "Through the Fire and Flames" Dragonforce Game: Guitar Hero III It's also the only song in Guitar Hero that commands you to "Stop staring at my D-cup!" Don't stare, guys. But it is an addictive track and the difficulty soon melted into pure joy. In Guitar Hero, its driving punk riffs and speedy pace made it surprisingly challenging the first time we ever played through Guitar Hero. One of the shortest, tightest and punchiest tracks in Guitar Hero history, The Donnas' "Take it Off" is a punk reversal: a song about female empowerment that actually sounds powerful. "Take It Off" The Donnas Game: Guitar Hero and if that isn't a barometer for quality I don't know what is. And, while we won't tell you that this track alone is worth purchasing the game for, we will say that sales in New Jersey skyrocketed on World Tour due to the inclusion of the song. While we were initially disappointed that it took four games to get around to placing this auditory dream into the world of Guitar Hero, we have to say that we are glad that they waited, as being able to karaoke the vocals along with the Jovi is a privilege that would have gone unrewarded before. No other song from the decade has the same perfect mix of rockin' guitar riffs, mind-blowing lyrics and cheese necessary to represent a whole generation - music or otherwise. "Livin' on a Prayer" Bon Jovi Game: Guitar Hero: World TourĪlright, no beating around the bush, we're just going to say it: "Livin' on a Prayer" is the best song of the '80s. Although not at the upper range of difficulty, "Godzilla" feels as good as it sounds. It's one of the tracks that helped define the diversity and solid music selection of the original Guitar Hero, and the bottom line is that it's a joy to play. Although one might chuckle at the "Oh no, there goes Tokyo!" lyrics, the song keeps fingers dancing up and down the neck of the guitar. "Godzilla" Blue Oyster Cult Game: Guitar HeroĮven more guitar-friendly than the band's most famous tune, "Don't Fear the Reaper," Blue Oyster Cult's "Godzilla" is a hard-rocking albeit sometimes goofy anthem to Japan's most adorable natural disaster. It serves up a buffet of awesome playability, from the pensive opening dirge, to the chunky, thrashy bits, to a blistering solo… there's even a key change! "Beast" is a fret-melter of the highest order, and the Huntington Beach quintet served notice to newcomers: this is a band worthy of worship. The track is a solid piece of rock, made of devilish licks and tasty lyrics. "The Beast and the Harlot" Avenged Sevenfold Game: Guitar Hero IIįor people who don't know what A7X means, and hadn't heard the band prior to their appearance in Guitar Hero II, "The Beast and the Harlot" was a war cry-a scream across the plain of rock. All kidding aside, this song is a seven minute guitar solo which isn't the hardest track in the game, but it sure is hell is one of the most fun. In the case of the rock instrumental "Jessica" it was The Allman Brothers Band which got a chance to show videogamers that lyric-less southern rock from the early '70s is just as fun as any of the new-fangled rock and roll music. One of the things that we appreciated most about the second Guitar Hero game was the fact that they branched out a little bit and brought some classic rock music into the fold. In perhaps EU4’s smartest move, countries will collect currency in three abstract categories: diplomacy, administration, and military. The trade interface looks interesting, but its secrets are difficult to unlock. The same concepts apply to managing your empire's internal affairs. At that point I decided that maybe it was time for a few decades of peaceful internal development – and so Europa Universalis was able to successfully head off the typical snowball pattern that turns grand strategy games into a foregone conclusion. At one point my Russians had expanded so quickly that not only did my neighbors hate me and form an alliance against me, but the officers in my army kept resigning and my merchants kept getting expelled from their trading posts. If you try to turn a military advantage into world domination in EU4, you'll start incurring an “aggressive expansion” diplomatic penalty every time you conquer new territory. Europa Universalis IV also discourages unrealistic play with penalties. My Russia started with rivalries against local powers, like Sweden and Crimea, but once I got to the New World, I added Spain to that list, which led to a hundred years of, yes, colonial rivalry occasionally bursting into world wars. But the rivals mechanic also makes wars more likely, because those countries know you're a rival, and like you less. Winning battles against those nations will grant more benefits than other nations, so you'll want to attach it to the countries you're most likely to be fighting against. For example, a new diplomatic rivals system allows every country to choose three nations to target. Instead, Europa Universalis IV cleverly uses game mechanics to encourage players to behave in ways that keep events within the realm of possibility and reason. Events such as civil wars and revolutions still exist in Europa Universalis IV, but they're largely randomized instead of pre-programmed. Previous games in the series tended to encourage us to follow reality via event systems that ended up making it feel like history was on rails. What makes Europa Universalis IV particularly interesting is how it tries to build plausible alternate histories. Could Russia have, perhaps, focused more on western expansion and less on European conquest, as in my game, and would that have led them to more completely colonize the west coast of North America? Those mild initial divergences from history, with major later effects – my world wars against Spain – are the sort of interesting alternate histories that define Europa Universalis. You wouldn't ever expect a game of Civilization to have a historical outcome-its scope is far too broad-but EU4 makes accurate outcomes seem plausible. What separates Europa Universalis from most other strategy games is its intense focus on being historical (for example, you can only play on the real-world map). The real-time aspect isn’t entirely necessary, but Paradox has been using the system for nearly 15 years now, and it works well enough. This is all done at a real-time pace, but it's much less StarCraft than it is Civilization – you'll be slowing, pausing, and accelerating time while making grand strategic decisions about what provinces to target, or where building trade will be most efficient, instead of the tactical choices of most RTS games. ![]() It’s mostly liberating, if occasionally lacking in validation when it won’t acknowledge my total domination with a “You Win!” screen. And because there aren’t any victory conditions apart from a nebulous point system at the end of a game, EU4 is all about self-defined goals within historical settings. From rising empires like France and Russia on one hand, to the Creek in North America, or Ming China, or the merchant republic of Venice, the wide selection provides a solid amount of variety. My colonial wars with Russia comprise a perfectly normal set of events in EU4, which lets you take control of any nation on the map, as drawn in the age of the Renaissance and Enlightenment (from 1444 to 1820). What makes Europa Universalis IV special, in a way that most sandbox-style strategy games fail, is that it’s unusually free of annoyances and contradictions that get in the way of enjoying alternate histories. ![]() Rihanna work meaning11/13/2022 ![]() ![]() Her sensuality is a celebratory one, and though the male gaze is ever-present, it’s at least at arm’s length for now. Rihanna is my favorite mainstream example of a Black woman, not interested in dating at the moment, who still presents a version of empowerment that is deeply, joyously and intentionally sexual in the face of everything. Their pairing is the focus only if and when Rihanna feels like playing around with the idea. ![]() If you put #AubRih aside for three minutes and 39 seconds, it becomes clear that Drake is just the feature artist. Even in the second video, Drake isn’t really set as the love interest-despite the pink lighting and coupling in the latter half of the video. In both of Rihanna’s videos, “fun” looks like expressing one’s sexuality and sensuality to whatever degree that individual desires, regardless of who is or isn’t around, regardless of who is or isn’t watching-although any of those details can make the experience more exciting. ![]() In an interview with The Fader, the director of Rihanna’s first “Work” video, Director X, explains, “Dancing and sex are tied together in America-if you’re dancing with somebody that means you’re sleeping with somebody… In West Indian culture, you’re dancing with someone because you’re dancing with someone. Drake is present in both videos, but he’s not the deciding factor regarding how Rih dances, or why. This doesn’t mean that the male gaze isn’t present, or even very involved, but it does suggest that in this case, the male gaze is not the ultimate prize. Her sexuality is about how sexy she knows she is, and how much she enjoys putting on a show-be it for Drake, her fellow dancers at the restaurant, or herself in the mirror. The kind of autonomy on display in Rihanna’s videos embodies a female-ness that rejects this. Not only does this perpetuate out-dated understandings of both genders, it also reinforces a binary model that refuses to place gender on a spectrum. The definition of one depends singularly on our constructed understanding of the other. The borders of masculinity are defined by the lack of femininity. Men are men, specifically because they’re not women. So part of deconstructing patriarchy involves us interrogating the self-consolidating patterns that the gender binary depends on in order to exist. Autonomy is about your body’s physical agency and the way you see yourself, and it’s also about having the right to define all those things for yourself, without anyone else’s input or involvement.īut in order for patriarchy to work, no one can be allowed space to develop any understanding of gender that isn’t specifically related to masculinity. We still need to talk about autonomy as it relates to consent, for example, but autonomy also involves a woman’s right to take up space, and the ability to manipulate the boundaries of that space at her whim. Instead, it’s also worth focusing on the kind of autonomy that Rihanna demonstrates in this video, one that is more complicated than the traditional, mainstream and flattened dialogue around choice. But eh…Rihanna and Drake’s chemistry was the least interesting part of either video. Drake does get up for his verse, of course, and the two do interact with each other a few times. ![]() Rih spends most of the video dancing and singing while Drake remains largely inconspicuous in the background, trying his best to look unaffected and frequently failing. The second video is much more stripped down-it’s just Rihanna and Drake in a pink-lit room. The rest of the song is basically all the best parts of a West Indian fête sans tourists. As the beat drops, the camera pans over Rih whining in front of a mirror in the middle of the restaurant-turned-dance floor. The first video opens with Rihanna, clad in a pink, hooded fur coat, walking into a West Indian restaurant. Both videos for “Work” put her agency on full display. One of the many reasons I love/adore/volunteer my edges to Rihanna is because of the kind of female autonomy she represents and effortlessly demonstrates. In the midst of a welcome flurry of new singles, videos, entire albums (Frank, come on, fam) and stunning performances, Monday saw the release of both of Rihanna’s music videos for her rhythmic iffiancehall single, Work. February has been a jam-packed month for Black musical artists. ![]() Wwe 2k17 xbox 360 my career11/13/2022 ![]() ![]() Level 3: Increased by 18%Ībility: Damage inflicted by double team moves and Tag Team finishers is increased.
